CURRENT OPENINGS (Updated: April 28, 2010)

To all applicants

Today, were you to open a design directory that listed 100 different design studios across India (showcasing their work) and blanked out their names – you wouldn’t know which studio has done what work unless you know ‘x’ brand belongs to ‘y’ studio. All the work looks the same. And there’s no such thing as ‘Indian’ graphic design, which is both a good and bad thing – good because overseas studios are tying up with Indian studio left, right and center. Bad because – well, where’s the identity?

But this is not my point. Today I believe that the biggest opportunities in the market are for the ‘thinking’ studios and for those that provide a superior design ‘service’ – because ultimately, we function in the ‘service industry’. I want our studio to be certified for service standards, while design winning awards – and there’s a lot of tweaking required in that regard. This too for the people we invite to come and join us, and so below is a simple description of the kind of people we’re looking for.

Business & Creative

Looking for someone with:

• Experience and an understanding of the 10 – 15% finishing that takes a product from good to fabulous and then the additional 5% stretch that makes it ‘dreamy’.While understanding that doing things at 80% more consistently is better than doing things at 100% more erratically.
  
• An intuitive understanding of ‘what people want’, ‘what makes them tick’.
• A respect for the fact that the client is not the enemy – he does pay the bills.
• A portfolio that shows breadth, depth, height and all that with experimentation as well as standardization playing yin and yang.
• A respect for ‘execution’ and ‘getting the job done’ – a track record to back this claim up.
• Anywhere between 0 to 6 years of experience.

The Details

The hiring cycle will be between May and July.

Account Executive / Client Servicing / Strategist

Relevant experience in CRM, budgeting, business development, vendor evaluation, strategy and other related responsibilities. Prior experience preferred; ideally having worked in another design studio/creative services company.

Senior Designer

Experience in dealing with clients across different industries, both mass and niche market. Strong ability in strategizing and defining brand direction with clients and delegating work/working in teams as required. Selection based on portfolio and personal interview.

Junior Designer

Fresh design school graduate or minimal work experience. Comfortable working across different software packages, working within a team, good communication skills. Selection based on portfolio and personal interview.

Visualizer

Expert knowledge of different graphics software packages. Working knowledge of dreamweaver, flash and 3D studio Max and other related packages would be an advantage. Prior experience at a design studio / advertising agency preferred.
